Insight Academy is a PreK-12 private school and behavioral clinic located in Berea. At the academy, students are supported by highly trained staff in all areas of behavior and education, and the program is headed by our CEO and Board Certified Behavior Analyst. In addition to traditional large-group instruction, students receive small group instruction based on academic and behavioral assessments completed at Insight. We strive to make programs individualized to the students' needs to create academic content that is accessible to them, utilizing an academic curriculum that meets state standards and evidence-based behavioral and social-emotional curriculum. Our academic curriculum incorporates learning activities tailored to each student’s individual abilities. We offer a variety of programming that targets the academic and behavioral needs of our population of students.

Insight Academy is comprised of two unique programs: Social Emotional Learning and Intensive Needs.

Our Social Emotional Learning (SEL) program provides an integrative approach that supports the behavioral, emotional, and social development of the students we serve. We offer a unique program that incorporates the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which allows us to use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) through a behavior analytic lens. Our SEL program consists of grades K-12 and is heavily focused on students who display significant interfering behavior due to emotional dysregulation and/or additional mental health concerns including but not limited to anxiety, depression, OCD, and ODD.

Our Intensive Needs (IN) program uses Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy to work with our students in decreasing behaviors that interfere with their ability to access their academic and social environments. We teach replacement behaviors that allow students to successfully overcome barriers and more appropriately access both their academic and social environments. Our IN program is divided into the early learners (PreK-2 grade) and intermediate learners (3-5 and 6-8 grade). IN students generally have a 1:2 or 1:3 ratio at max. Many of our newer students begin 1:1 until their behavioral needs are met and are able to be successful in a small group with peers.

Our programming services include Full Day, Half Day, Early Intervention, and Extended School Year (ESY).

While academics are the main focus of our academy, neurobehavioral needs must be met first. All of our programming strives to make meaningful change for both the student and the family by incorporating what the student has learned into the homes of the families. Our full day service is a blended format that combines academics and behavior curricula delivered by our teachers, intervention specialists, and support staff into what would be a typical 6-hour school day. Our half day service is very similar to our full day service but is offered in a variety of half-time formats.

Early Intervention is at the core of teaching our little ones the social, emotional, and behavioral skills they need while their brains and bodies are developing. We offer an Early Intervention service that focuses on smaller ratios and small group play-based instruction so that the student will easily transition into kindergarten with their newfound skills.

ESY services go beyond the traditional school year instruction. Extra time is often necessary for students with behavior issues as academic instruction can be disrupted when addressing behaviors in the school setting. ESY utilizes the principles of behavior analytic science to help students overcome behavioral obstacles and better access their academic and social environments. This service can provide consistent and reinforcing behavioral support over the summer so that the student’s behaviors are well-managed when the student returns to school in the fall.
